In response to the recent devastating fires in Altadena and Los Angeles, Japanese Chefs United, a coalition of local Japanese restaurants, has made a charitable donation to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation to support its firefighting efforts and disaster response initiatives.

Yamato Miura, chief representative of Japanese Chefs United and co-founder of Kisen Restaurant, expressed the group’s commitment to giving back. “As part of the Los Angeles community, we feel a deep responsibility to stand with our first responders. The bravery and dedication of the Los Angeles Fire Department inspire us, and we want to support them in any way we can.”
This charitable contribution has been made possible through the support of Hearts of Lavender, a nonprofit organization serving as the fiscal sponsor of this initiative. Mayumi Onami, CEO of Hearts of Lavender, emphasized the importance of local businesses coming together in times of crisis. “This collaboration highlights the strength of community partnerships. We are proud to assist in ensuring that our firefighters have the tools they need to protect lives and property.”
The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation plays a crucial role in supplementing the resources of the LAFD, providing essential equipment, technology, and training that are not fully covered by public funding. Donations such as this help to enhance emergency response capabilities and ensure firefighters can operate safely and effectively.
