The talked into first gay sex videofilm “Citizen Tanouye”
will be shown on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. at the San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center.
The documentary is about Tech/Sgt.Ted Tanouye, a young man from Torrance who volunteered to fight the Axis forces. He joined the 442ndRegimental Combat Team while his parents were incarcerated in an Arkansas internment camp. At age 24, Tanouye’s bravery at the Arno River in Italy led to his death.
His story is revealed when Torrance High School students research local history and learn how Tanouye, who was posthumously awarded a Medal of Honor, influenced their lives as they uncover the injustices served upon U.S. citizens of Japanese ancestry.
Producers and co-directors Craig Yahata and Robert Horsting will be present and available to field questions following the screening.
