By Genie Nakano
afraid of heights
I love to fly in dreams
above the earth
all so far away
everything is clear
making love, flying
are common themes
in my nighttime dreams
both of which
escape my daily life
even in my dreams
flight is not easy
my arms beat the air
and heavy legs drag
until the mist lifts
over French villages
I fly…
flanked by two young men
it’s so easy in this dream
of course I lead the way
