GARDENA — Sugimation presents a new musical, “Letters to Eve,” written by Daniel Sugimoto, on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute’s Nisei Veterans Memorial Hall, 1964 W. 162ndSt. in Gardena.
“Letters to Eve” is a classic story of love, friendship, family, and honor. This epic World War II musical follows a Japanese American family and their plight through forced internment, an African American jazz musician captured during Germany’s occupation of France, and the powerful spirit of music and literature.
“This breathtaking new work will uncover the lost letters of history and paint a pure picture of a fascinating era,” said a GVJCI spokesperson. “Discover the power as these characters decide to stand up for what’s right, and create a legacy for the ages. Join us for a night of music and storytelling.”
In addition the show, the GVJCI’s Sansei Stories class will be sharing stories relating to the plot of “Letters to Eve.” The class is led and taught by Tim Toyama, award-winning playwright and producer.
