Four weeks earlier than last year, Pink Cloud, a hybrid of Japanese and Taiwanese cherry trees has started blooming at Columbia Park, 4045 190th St. in Torrance. The trees were donated by Soka Gakkai International-USA. Volunteers from the group planted 10 trees every year starting in 2001 and ending in 2011, for a total of 110 trees. The City of Torrance is planning to host its annual Cherry Blossom Festival at the park on Sunday, March 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsors include the Torrance Sister City Association, Torrance Artists Guild, Torrance Craftsmen’s Guild, and Soka Gakkai International.
